We recently launched our Young People Ambassadors Group – Game Changers – at a Residential over-night stay at Mahdlo Youth Zone.
The group of around 60 young people, who have been formed through the network of Youth Zones as well as a number of passionate young people from London, will serve as the figureheads of our future Youth Zones.
The OnSide Ambassadors, from Wigan, Carlisle, Blackburn, Oldham, Manchester and London, will represent their Youth Zone in actioning any need for change and will also talk at OnSide events to spread the word of Youth Zones nationally with the aim of building 20 Youth Zones by 2020.
And their first task was to unite at an overnight residential stay at Mahdlo on Saturday to take part in a number of workshops, one of which included a session to decide on a name for their group!
After a number of online votes between the young people, the group decided ‘Game Changers’ would be the most appropriate name to represent their group of ‘changers’ – and who are we to argue!
On top of the branding workshop, the groups also split to take part in a session which outlined ‘What it means to be an Ambassador’, a team building session as well as an opportunity to create their own TV Advert!
You can watch the four short TV Adverts each group came up with after they were set the task of showcasing what a Youth Zone is and why they are important to young people – all in just 30 minutes!
The next stage of this Game Changers process is to decide on a brand for the group as well as the official application process – stay tuned!
