The OnSide President’s Cup is back for 2016!
The annual event, kindly supported by Norman K. Stoller CBE KStJ DL, President of Mahdlo (Oldham Youth Zone), will be hosted by The Factory Youth Zone and their dedicated team on Saturday April 9th.
The unique event will see the power of the Youth Zone network unite as approximately 200 young people will come together from from Wigan, Blackburn, Manchester, Bolton, Carlisle, Oldham and this year, our newest Youth Zone, Wolverhampton will also be looking to take home the coveted prize – the bragging rights for being the winning Youth Zone!
With the recent announcement that a hat-trick of Youth Zones are to be developed in the capital, a joint London team will arrive at The Factory Youth Zone hoping they can take home the glory.
Last year, Wigan Youth Zone hosted a fantastic, fun-filled event which saw young people from across the Youth Zone Network, aged 8 -19 compete in the OnSide President’s Cup, with Blackburn Youth Zone crowned as the winner – for the third time, but who will win this year?
The winning Youth Zone will be decided after a series of non-traditional games and activities between senior, junior and inclusion teams, including wheelchair basketball, bladderball, gym challenges, art attack, a dance off and many more!
This year, The Factory have introduced a Graffiti Team who will work to develop a piece of art on their Youth Zone wall, something which will lie as a legacy for this years event.
On top of that, each Youth Zone has been asked to put together a video and design a unique mascot together which creatively showcases; team members, the Youth Zone strengths and will encourage a positive buzz about the event throughout the network.
One of the day’s main objectives is to demonstrate sporting endeavour, teamwork and fair play. We always expect these criteria to be achieved therefore all the young people will be presented with a souvenir medal, followed by young people performances.
The President’s Cup is open to junior, senior and inclusion members and any Youth Zone member’s interested in taking part should contact their Sports Co-ordinator’s or email The Factory Youth Zone’s Chris Mason on email@example.com
