Winter Ball Raises £34k For Mahdlo

21st November 2014 by OnSide

Last Saturday saw one of OnSide’s Network of Youth Zones – Mahdlo raise an incredible £34,000 thanks to their annual Winter Wonderland Ball.

The Youth Zone was transformed into a Winter Wonderland which saw a night of music, dancing, fundraising and festive cheer, bringing together supporters of Mahdlo and members of the local business community.

Sponsored by Stoller Charitable Trust and Safeguard Group, the Ball raised an incredible £34,000 for the registered charity through ticket sales, auctions and the opportunity to support specific areas of Mahdlo’s work through ‘wish list’ items providing the young people of Oldham with the best possible opportunities.

The magical transformation of the Youth Zone’s sports hall was the work of Team Spirit, who sponsored the room decoration, whilst local company Web Applications UK sponsored a VIP drinks reception.

Musical entertainment during dinner came from talented Mahdlo members, including a special preview of an original song that is being released soon, and later, party band The Twentysomethings got everyone on their feet to dance the night away. Norman Stoller, President of Mahdlo, said the Ball was, “truly a night to remember and a night that made me feel so proud of what we have done together.”

Mahdlo’s Community Development Manager, Claire Crossfield said, “We can’t thank everyone who joined us for this spectacular night enough. As a charity, in the coming year we need to raise over £300,000 from the community, events and bringing in new Patrons – the success of the Winter Ball really has boosted our fundraising campaign, thanks to the efforts of our generous sponsors, supporters and the team at Mahdlo. We still have a long way to go though and are now working towards our next big event – a firewalk and community fair in February!”
