When the phone rang in the OnSide office on Tuesday 19th January 2016, nobody could have imagined what was to materialize….
On the other end of the phone, was softly spoken Brian Leigh-Bramwell MA, who explained he was a Trustee of P. Leigh-Bramwell Trust E and Chairman of Leigh Brothers.
Brian explained he had a previous involvement with Bolton Lads and Girls Club, before asking if he could pop in and hand us something……
What did Brian have in mind? Was it a piece of memorabilia or maybe it was a letter of some sort?
It was the latter….but alongside this letter, was a cheque. Brian presented us with a cheque for a staggering £25,000!
This incredible donation was awarded to OnSide in memory of Brian’s mother, Mrs H R Leigh-Bramwell, a former Trustee of the charitable trust who sadly passed away in March 2015.
P. Leigh-Bramwell Trust E makes grants to voluntary organisations, charities and education or training providers in order to help improve lives of people across the country.
This hugely generous gift will allow us to continue our mission of giving young people from across the United Kingdom, somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
Grants and Trusts Manager Claire Greenwood (pictured) said of the kind donation: “I received a phone call from Brian one afternoon who stated he would like to present a donation to us. What I didn’t anticipate was the astonishing sum of money Brian and the P. Leigh-Bramwell Trust were about to hand over to us. We can’t thank Brian and his Trustee enough. The kind donation really will make a massive difference to the lives of young people; helping us create a Youth Zone in Chorley and will in-turn aid our quest to open more Youth Zones across the country.”
OnSide would like to extend our sincere gratitude once again to Brian and the P. Leigh-Bramwell Trust E for this generous and kind gesture.
