Why Reinvent The Wheel

21st November 2011 by Onside Youth Zones

Celebrate success, build a sustainability and work together more closely, were some of the key messages that came out of a recent myplace event at Bolton Lads and Girls Club.

Facilitated by OnSide, the event saw a selection of myplace projects from across the country, including; Stoke, Lewisham, Leicestershire, Oldham, Manchester and Toxteth, come together to share best practice and learn more about OnSide’s ‘Youth Zone Model’.

Discussions centred around the key principles of making a youth facility a success, ensuring sustainable funding and measuring impact, with the aim of ensuring each project has the right platform to deliver what young people want.

We spoke to a couple of the attendees at the event to get their thoughts on our model and how they could replicate their findings locally:

Danny Flynn, Chief Executive of the YMCA North Staffordshire

Thomas Calderbank from the myplace Support Team
