Take a Virtual Tour“I’m AJ*, I’m 14 and I’m a member at Carlisle Youth Zone. I’m really passionate about performing and writing music and am often involved in music projects with the Youth Zone. When I first joined, I described myself as a girly girl, very shy and would never speak to anyone. Now, as a senior member, I have changed dramatically and have learnt that I can always be myself and I feel very comfortable around staff, friends and family.
I’ve been through challenges with my gender identity at the Youth Zone and overcame this obstacle by becoming comfortable in who I am as a person through the support of my friends and staff at the Youth Zone. I’ve realised that it was ok not to know who I am fully and where I want to be in the future. I know that people won’t judge me for trying different things and not exactly knowing the outcome.”
