Cameron and Nelson, accompanied by the Chief Executive of OnSide, Kathryn Morley, took to London on Tuesday 9th July for the ‘Backing Youth’ event, held in the extremely well-known landmark… The one and only Buckingham Palace. The ‘Backing Youth’ reception was hosted by the Duke of York, who is dedicated to supporting young people in their personal growth and career development. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the incredible work of charities and social enterprises with leading business figures in the UK. OnSide were invited to the amazing opportunity and grabbed it with both hands, taking Cameron and Nelson to represent the great work that had been achieved by our Youth Zones.
The three musketeers set off on their adventure on the train. They got there a few hours early to ensure they had enough time to take a trip on an open top bus in the glorious sunshine! They then took a relaxing boat ride back to Tower Bridge, along with a complete commentary by one of the crew.
After a speedy change into their suits and ties, the boys then headed to the palace for what was a spectacular night! When they arrived, they were introduced by a dance display, who were young people themselves. They then had a warm welcome from HRH Duke of York. After that, they then set about the real mission of introducing and spreading the word about OnSide and the Youth Zone model to the 60 guests, who were top business people from London! The boys then split up, handing out their business cards at every opportunity they got.
As the night went on, two different people had complimented Cameron, saying he was inspiring to talk to! Wow! Well done Cameron!
Nelson also made quite an impression after speaking to HRH, who showed an interest in the Youth Zones!
Both Cameron and Nelson had a brilliant time and did us extremely proud… both OnSide and Mahdlo.
