Support builds for Legacy Youth Zone as CCHA becomes a Founder Patron

16th July 2019 by OnSide

Croydon Churches Housing Association (CCHA) becomes the latest supporter of youth charity Legacy Youth Zone, which aims to provide thousands of local young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

Currently under construction on Whitehorse Road in Selhurst, Legacy Youth Zone is a £6.5million state-of-the-art facility, which will offer young people access to over 20 top quality activities, seven days a week.

As a Founder Patron, CCHA will make a £25,000 donation each year for the next three years, ensuring the Youth Zone opens with a first-class offer for Croydon’s young people.

The new charity will provide young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, with access to an indoor climbing wall, sports hall, fully equipped gym, training kitchen, music room with recording studio, arts and crafts room, dance and drama studio and much more, all for just £5 annual membership fee and 50p per visit.

Tracy Cullen, Chief Executive at CCHA said: “As a local community housing association, we are keen to not only provide affordable housing, but to enhance our residents’ lives through innovative community focused initiatives.

“As a founder patron, we are excited to explore the opportunities that working with Legacy Youth Zone will bring to our residents and the Croydon community as a whole”.

Legacy Youth Zone will officially open on Saturday 7th September. From 11am, young people and their families can enjoy free access to over 20 activities on offer at Legacy, as well as meet the team, enjoy live music and find out more about becoming a member.

Nick Sleep, Chair at Legacy Youth Zone said “We are thrilled to welcome Croydon Churches Housing Association to our family of Founder Patrons. We are delighted to work in partnership with a local organisation which is proud to put young people first and recognises the importance of community cohesion. Every penny of their incredible gift will directly benefit Croydon’s young people for years to come.”

The Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide Youth Zones, Croydon Council, and several local businesses and philanthropists who wish to see Croydon flourish.
