A new programme at Unitas, the OnSide Youth Zone in North London, has successfully used sport and mindfulness to support young people with their mental health.
Originally delivered online, it was moved into the Youth Zone once safe to do so. Young people take part in physical activity before engaging in sessions such as meditation, as well as being taught techniques and activities they can take part in remotely.
Unitas has also utilised Community Match Challenge funding to purchase equipment for the young people to take home to help them carry on their exercises.
The programme has been such a success, with young people overwhelmingly reporting an improvement in their mental health and wellbeing, that the Youth Zone is going to continue delivering it into the future.
