Inspired by Beckham!

13th December 2018 by Onside Youth Zones

Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone has partnered with British Fashion Council (BFC) to deliver an inspirational Youth Workshop in Miami. The workshop was hosted as part of the launch of David Beckham, adidas Originals and BFC’s new creative collaboration Makerlab Presents: Here toCreate; an annual project furthering education in the design and fashion sector championing emerging designers.

Beckham, adidas Originals and Caroline Rush attended Miami’s Design and Architecture Senior High School (DASH) for the workshop led by Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone for the school’s students. Supporting the BFC’s education pillar is an integral part of Beckham’s role as Ambassadorial President and he joined the team in Miami to play host at the workshop for budding designers. The workshop was curated to inspire the students who have opted for a career in the creative industries, to further inspire their creative vision, unlock creativity and demonstrate how talent and originality can transform to a tangible business future

The content of the workshop was designed to explore several fashion trends focusing on the impressions they can portray in modern society versus the impressions they originally portrayed when first designed and worn. It also aimed to instill confidence and reinforce the excitement young people feel when expressing themselves with fashion and the clothes they wear. The workshop explored the roots of fashion and how it links to the way young people brand themselves, express their personalities and shape their ideas through fashion today.
