OnSide launches new strategic plan

9th November 2021 by OnSide

OnSide was launched in 2008, and since then we have had thousands of young people walk through the doors of our Youth Zones, experiencing first hand the power of passionate, properly-funded youth provision.

Our vision is simple; every young person across the UK is happy, healthy and able to thrive. No time has this vision been more important that today.

Launching our new Strategic Plan

We are proud to be launching our Strategic Plan for 2021-24 which has been shaped by the skills, experience and ideas of the whole OnSide team, the Board, the Network of Youth Zones, and young people themselves. It sets a clear direction for us as a charity that’s committed to supporting young people now and long into the future.

Young people have had to spend time away from friends and family, school and socialising, which has had a devastating impact on their mental health and wellbeing. The long term effects of the pandemic on the economy and labour market also paints a worrying picture of the future prospects for young people.

It is vital that we take action now to champion and invest in youth provision, for more young people to have access to the proven OnSide Youth Zone model, and for the existing Network of Youth Zone to continue to develop and grow, adapting to the changing needs of their members.

This new strategic plan has been developed to explicitly address the key strategic questions OnSide face now, in light of the current and expected future operating environment. Over the next three years, we will focus on six strategic goals to further our progress of making our vision a reality:

  1. To refine our Youth Zone model and offer while remaining focused on our core universal youth work offer.
  2. Strengthen the OnSide Network.
  3. Grow the OnSide Network.
  4. Strengthen OnSide’s financial sustainability.
  5. Strengthen OnSide’s partnerships and external profile.
  6. Embed our Network Values and Shared Standards.

Kathryn Morley OnSide’s Chief Executive, comments:

Over the last three years we’ve made great progress with evolving our national profileNot one but three Youth Zones were opened in London, a second Youth Zone opened in Manchester, and our recently announced Grimsby, Bristol and Barnsley Youth Zones further establishes OnSide as a national charity. Now is a critical time for young people and we’re committed to ensuring more have access to quality youth provision. Our new strategic plan sets our direction for the next three years; how we plan to grow our Network and to support each Youth Zone to give thousands of young people the opportunity to shine.

If you’re inspired by what we do and want to join our movement and invest in young people’s futures find out more here.
