On Saturday 22nd March, six of our open Youth Zones will battle it outat the ‘President’s Cup 2014’, OnSide’s annual inter-Youth Zone sporting tournament to see who will reign supreme – at least for 2014.
Kindly supported by Norman K. Stoller CBE CStJ DL, President of Mahdlo Youth Zone (Oldham), this year’s challenge will see 150 young people from across the Youth Zone network compete in a range of sporting activities such as; a fitness challenge, unihoc and dodgeball.
This year’s event will be hosted by current title holders, Blackburn Youth Zone and promises to be an exciting and challenging day!
The OnSide President’s Cup is a competitive event built around sporting endeavour, teamwork and fair play. It is an opportunity for young people from across the Youth Zone network to meet up and socialise, travel outside their local area and take part in something new.
All participants will receive a souvenir medal for taking part, and the Youth Zone that demonstrates the most outstanding example of sporting behaviour will take home the ‘Fair Play Award’, kindly donated by our Chairman, Bill Holroyd CBE DL.
This year each Youth Zone will showcase their team and why they think they will win the event. Videos will be judged on how creatively each Youth Zone introduces their chosen team, with the winning video will receiving an extra 5 points on the day, towards their total score.
