Six young people from OnSide’s network of Youth Zones were funded by Chairman Bill Holroyd to attend a four day Leadership course at Lancaster University. HOBY UK held its first seminar in 2007 at the University of Chester. Since then, they have built year on year, inviting international delegates and and expanding their list of partners. HOBY UK is many things. A leadership conference, a support network, a confidence booster, a counselling service. With the glowing reports of HOBY, Bill funded a group of five young people from Wigan Youth Zone as well as Michelle Itobore from The Factory Youth Zone in Manchester to travel up and take part. The group met inspirational speakers, took part in confidence building challenges with new faces from across the country, and as you will hear from Michelle in the video below, made the most of a “life changing” experience.
