Arslaan Hussain, a member of Mahdlo Youth Zone in Oldham reveals all in this heart-warming interview regarding the challenges he has overcome since being diagnosed with cancer.
After being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year, the treatment he received resulted in damage to his legs and means that he is now a wheelchair user. Arslaan first came to Mahdlo in November 2014 after being forced to by his social worker. He didn’t want to engage as a participant, but wanted to volunteer instead.
Since then his confidence to engage with young people has improved dramatically. He has progressed from attending as a young person and becoming a young leader, to being employed as a full-time member of staff.
