About Empower Youth Zones

Empower Youth Zones is the charity that oversees the creation, management and sustainability of Youth Zones in Manchester and Salford. These include HideOut Youth Zone located in Gorton (East Manchester) which opened in 2020, and Salford Youth Zone located in Pendleton, which opened to young people in June 2025. HideOut and Salford Youth Zone provide children and young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs with somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to. HideOut and Salford Youth Zone are part of a national and growing network of Onside Youth Zones. There are currently 17 active Onside Youth Zones across the UK with 22 due to be open by 2026.

About the role

Empower is looking for a creative, energetic Digital Communications & Marketing Officer who is passionate about working with young people and telling powerful stories that showcase real impact. Working as part of an integrated marketing team, you’ll support the Head of Marketing & Communications to plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging content across their social media channels and website. Your work will help the Youth Zones build a strong, authentic online presence and connect meaningfully with young people, families, partners, and funders. A key part of the role is working directly with young people – empowering them to share their voices and experiences in creative, engaging and fun ways that bring the Youth Zone story to life. You’ll also play an important role in monitoring performance across their digital platforms, using insight and data to continuously improve their content and reach, ensuring they deliver positive outcomes for young people and the wider communities.

Although part of an integrated Empower Team, this role will be based from Salford Youth Zone with flexibility to work across both sites as required.
