Outdoor & Wellbeing Sessional Youth Worker (224 Youth Zone)

224 Youth Zone, opening in Spring 2026 in South Bristol, will be a dynamic, state-of-the-art space for young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs. As the new home of Youth Moves and part of the OnSide Network, it will provide over 20 activities – from football, boxing and climbing to creative arts, music and drama – seven days a week.

For just 50p per visit, members will have access to facilities including an indoor climbing wall, 3G kick pitch, fully equipped gym, dance and drama studio, music room, arts and crafts room, skate park, martial arts gym, enterprise suite and a dedicated health and wellbeing space, plus a hot meal for £1 every session. At its heart, 224 Youth Zone is about creating a safe, supportive environment where young people can build confidence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging.

About the Role

We’re looking for caring and motivated Outdoor & Wellbeing Sessional Youth Workers to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis (8–24 hours per week) to deliver engaging outdoor and wellbeing-focused activities for young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 with additional needs).

This role includes regular evening and weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering inclusive wellbeing sessions focused on confidence-building, resilience, mindfulness and healthy coping strategies.

  • Encouraging positive routines, self-care and emotional literacy.

  • Supporting young people to express themselves, build self-esteem and develop self-advocacy skills.

  • Facilitating outdoor activities that promote teamwork, personal growth and connection.

  • Building positive, professional relationships and acting as a trusted role model.

  • Supervising and supporting volunteers within sessions.

  • Ensuring all sessions meet safeguarding, health and safety, and equality standards.

About You

This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people’s emotional wellbeing and personal development in a brand-new Youth Zone. You’ll have experience working with children and young people and an understanding of how outdoor experiences and wellbeing activities can strengthen confidence, resilience and social skills.

You’ll be confident creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people feel heard and valued. You’ll bring empathy, energy and reliability, alongside the ability to adapt sessions to suit a range of needs and abilities. Experience delivering outdoor or wellbeing activities is desirable, as is a relevant youth work qualification.

You must be willing to work evenings, weekends and additional sessions when required.

In accordance with Youth Moves’ Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an Enhanced DBS check.
