Volunteer and Training Co-ordinator (Barnsley Youth Zone)

Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.

Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Volunteer and Training Co-ordinator to lead our volunteer recruitment, development, and retention strategy. This role will also be responsible for coordinating learning and development across Base71 Youth Zone, ensuring all staff and volunteers are well-equipped to thrive in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a volunteer recruitment and engagement strategy
  • Provide ongoing support and training for all volunteers
  • Foster a culture of recognition and appreciation
  • Lead on internal and external training coordination, including safeguarding and appraisals
  • Manage volunteer and training budgets, records, and impact reporting
  • Promote Base71 at sector events and within the local community

About You:
We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Significant experience in volunteer coordination or training within a community, education, or youth setting
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Experience managing learning and development programmes
  • The ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends
