Why Chorley?

Locations for all of our Youth Zone’s are selected strategically in order to have the largest impact on young people. Chorley was chosen for many reasons, including:

  • Over 15,000 young people aged 8-19 live in Chorley
  • 13.3% of children (under 16) live in poverty in Chorley
  • 14.1% of children in school Year 6 are obese

The Youth Zone is being created in partnership with Chorley Council, the Arts Partnership and Lancashire County Council to make this a reality for Chorley’s young people.

Thursday 21st September 2017 marked the first VIP site tour of Chorley Youth Zone since the steel superstructure installation and Capital Supporters and Founder Patrons were invited to the exclusive event to see first-hand the construction progress of ‘Inspire’ and learn more about how their support will help change the lives of Chorley’s young people.

“I cannot wait for the Youth Zone to open, especially to see my own and other young people’s creativity come to life. This is a great chance for all our ideas to be heard.” Anne Marie Gaskell

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Capital Supporters and Founder Patrons to today’s site tour of Inspire. It is thanks to their generous support that the dream of Chorley Youth Zone is now becoming a reality.

“Together we are building a brighter future for Chorley’s young people. It will make a huge difference to have this safe and inspiring place where young people can discover their talents, build their confidence and aspire to lead healthier and happier lives. I urge the business community to come forward to support Inspire, ensuring that we open the doors with a first class offer!” Chairman of Chorley Youth Zone, Andrew Turner

Young people of Chorley deserve a safe and inspiring place to spend their leisure time

“People have been telling us that our young people need somewhere to go where they can enjoy their spare time and to help them fulfil their potential, this Youth Zone would deliver something exciting for all young people across Chorley. By working together we could create a top class facility, giving our young people somewhere they could be proud of.” Chorley Council Leader, Alistair Bradley
