Youth Zone at Home: OnSide's response to Covid-19
Horizon Youth Zone is a brand new youth charity, set to provide thousands of young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
Located in the heart of the town, Horizon Youth Zone, Grimsby is set to be built in the former West Haven Maltings and Migar House buildings which front the River Freshney.
The name ‘Horizon’ was inspired by the new opportunities that the Youth Zone will provide
Izzy, Young People's Development Group member
Horizon Youth Zone is an exciting new development and an integral part of the Greater Grimsby Town Deal, investing in the youngest members of the community; future leaders, employers and employees.
Young people in North East Lincolnshire face particularly stark challenges. In some areas over 40% of children and young people are living in poverty, which significantly reduces the choices and opportunities available to them and their families, in all areas of life. Others may be more fortunate financially but still they experience the challenge of loneliness, boredom or social isolation.
OnSide’s goal is to ensure that every young person, regardless of their circumstance or background, can access first-rate facilities, alongside expert mentoring and support whenever they want or need to. Horizon Youth Zone, an independently run local charity led by interim Chair Jason Stockwood, will provide thousands of young people with the opportunities and support they need to raise their aspirations and to overcome their own barriers.
