A Weekend In The North West For Hammersmith & Fulham Young People

As the network continues to expand for OnSide, with an addition of yet another Youth Zone in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, a new development group has been formed to give young people the opportunity to input and share ideas for their Youth Zone.

In line with the developments, the group got the chance to see and experience an already existing Youth Zone in the North West and what better way to do so than a road trip and weekend away at this year’s champions of the President’s Cup, Wigan Youth Zone.

This weekend was a very good experience, I learnt new skills and made new friends and I hope to experience another residential again.

The group travelled up with members of the London Game Changers to Wigan on Friday 18th May, arriving at around midnight and of course very tired. Upon arrival they were greeted by the North-West Game Changers and briefed on the plan for the perfect fun filled weekend. Part of celebrating the achievements and hard work of the London and North-West Game Changers was a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for a day of activities on mind blowing roller coasters and The Royal Wedding…talk about a combination!

All in all, not bad for a residential that just so happened to be my 200th! Nice to see everyone and I can’t wait for the next residential.

Alex – Mahdlo Youth Zone

The group also spent the day taking part in team building activities which helped them get to know each other a little better. The day concluded with a quiz conducted by Alex, a young Game Changer from Mahdlo, which brought about many laughs and finally exhausting everyone to sleep.

The next day, everyone prepare to begin heading back home but before the London group arrived in back in the capital, they made a stop at The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton to give the new members of the Hammersmith & Fulham Development Group a chance to see yet another Youth Zone.
