Trustee – Marketing & Communications

We are currently seeking a Marketing & Communications Trustee to join our highly engaged and dynamic Board. Our Trustees are passionate about the impact OnSide has and are committed to ensuring that we continue to change the lives of young people across the country. We welcome diverse viewpoints being brought to the table and respect the unique skills and experience each Trustee brings to OnSide.

This role is a unique opportunity to help shape and elevate OnSide’s brand, voice and influence nationally, at a time when young people and youth work need strong advocacy more than ever.

The Marketing & Communications Trustee is expected to:

• Have a strong commitment to the mission and values of OnSide
• Act with integrity and have the confidence to provide constructive challenge
• Employ a strategic vision, particularly in relation to brand, communications and reputation
• Have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• Bring senior-level experience in marketing, brand strategy, communications and/or media
• Be able to support and challenge the Board and senior team, particularly the Director of Communications & Brand
• Be passionate about amplifying the voices of young people and influencing national narratives around youth work

Previous board experience is welcome but not essential.

Time Commitment:

• Trustees are expected to attend an induction meeting with the Board Chair and Chief Executive prior to attendance at their first board meeting
• Trustees are expected to attend all board meetings and the Annual General Meeting, which are held mainly in White City, West London and occasionally at other locations in the Network
• Board meetings are held every 2 months, normally during normal office hours, lasting approximately 2 hours
• Papers are distributed one week in advance of meetings – trustees are expected to have read them in advance of the meeting
• Trustees are expected to spend time, on an ad hoc basis, in between Board meetings to support the senior team
• Trustees may be asked to take part in governance training
