Take a Virtual TourAs Youth Work Coordinator – Art and Inclusion, you will lead the creative heart of Barnsley Youth Zone, curating an inclusive and inspiring programme across our arts, crafts, music, media, and performance spaces. You’ll help young people express themselves, build confidence, and find belonging through creativity.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversee and deliver a vibrant and inclusive Arts and Inclusion programme, spanning the Arts & Crafts Room, Music Studio, Film & Media Room, and Dance/Drama Studio.
Create a safe, welcoming, and dynamic environment for young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 with additional needs), promoting creativity, personal growth, and wellbeing.
Lead and support a team of part-time youth workers and volunteers, encouraging a high-quality, inclusive and engaging delivery style.
Design and coordinate a wide range of activities and events – from performances and exhibitions to skills workshops and creative projects – shaped by young people’s voices.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a smooth transition pathway between Junior and Senior Club sessions, supporting young people at every stage.
Work with external partners and community organisations to enhance opportunities for creativity, inclusion and youth engagement.
Monitor and evaluate impact, celebrating young people’s achievements and ensuring quality through OnSide’s Excellence Framework.
Play an active role in the wider Youth Zone team, supporting evenings, weekends, and holiday programmes to ensure an exciting offer for all.

About you:
We’re looking for a creative, confident youth professional with a passion for engaging young people through the arts. You will have:
Experience planning and delivering creative arts-based activities with young people aged 8+.
A strong commitment to inclusion, with experience working with young people with additional needs.
Confidence in leading teams and creating a high-energy, supportive environment for staff and volunteers.
A good understanding of safeguarding, youth development, and community engagement.
The ability to balance creative vision with strong planning, communication, and evaluation skills.
A positive, flexible approach with a willingness to work evenings and weekends.
