Wakefield Youth Zone

OnSide Youth Zone Wakefield will be a safe and aspirational place for young people.

The Youth Zone is designed to provide a space that is inspirational and recognisable while also accommodating the requirements for first-class facilities in sports, arts, performance and enterprise.

Wakefield Youth Zone will enhance the town by providing a destination for young people of the area. It will be a state-of-the-art space with over 20 activities to try each session, staffed by skilled youth workers who believe in young people and help them realise their aims and achievements.

This exciting new building will be located adjacent to Ings Road, WF1 1UW.

We have identified a number of key aims and objectives for the project:

  • A bold, clear design that is attractive and inspirational to young people.
  • A well-planned building with an exciting central space connecting first-class facilities.
  • A design that takes best advantage of its highly visible location.

About OnSide

OnSide is a national charity that believes all young people should have the opportunity to discover their passion and their purpose. To find out what they’ve got and where it could take them. We raise the funds to build state-of-the-art, multimillion-pound Youth Zones in the country’s most economically disadvantaged areas. We train the amazing people that run them. We offer continuing support to the nationwide OnSide Network where they can learn and grow, share their stories and celebrate their success together. These are brand new, purpose-built spaces fizzing with energy, and crammed with incredible facilities. They are staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers who truly believe in young people – helping them see what they could achieve, and giving them the skills, confidence and ambition to go for it. This is life-changing support that helps tens of thousands of young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to thrive.

There are now nineteen OnSide Youth Zones in the Network (Bolton, Carlisle, Blackburn, Oldham, Manchester, Wigan, Wolverhampton, Wirral, Chorley, Barking & Dagenham, Barnet, Croydon and Manchester East, Warrington, Hammersmith and Fulham, Salford, Barnsley, Grimsby and South Bristol) with several more in various stages of development. OnSide is committed to extending its vision and Network of Youth Zones throughout the country.
