One young person at The Factory has received travel training and has started college showing greater independence on session. She attends at least four sessions during each week and is very much part of the Youth Zone.
Three young people have completed their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award, which included a residential and a fundraising walk up mountain Snowdon.
These young people would not have succeeded in these outcomes if it was not for the staff training and the money provided to support these young people to access weekly sessions at The Youth Zone.
One family that attends the Youth Zone has a daughter and a foster daughter. Both girls have developed confidence through different activities. Both girls have additional needs, one girl is on our young leaders programme, has achieved her Duke of Edinburgh award and attends the Youth Zone independently now. The other has more complex needs and has some support in attending the Youth Zone. She is now developing confidence by participating in weekly inclusion dance sessions and is very confident in the activities that she accesses. The young person has created her own timetable of activities by choosing the activities she does using Picture Exchange Communication System. This is a system used in Special Education Schools to give non- verbal young people a choice.
